Lockdown day #76

Another lovely hot lazy day. 

I met up with Alan and we went for a walk in Moston Vale - which was a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.  Well it was, except I had an encounter with a rodent ... which was not so nice.

I was sent links to the 2005 development works in Moston Vale, to make it what is to today.  Apparently Moston Brook is culverted and runs 30ft below ground.  There is a path with blue colouring on it - and this follows the course of Moston Brook.  You learn something every day!

I did some research for the book on Midland Red I am putting together, and had my Sunday meal late today - it was too hot to cook earlier (well that is my excuse) - today was pork, corn and scrambled egg & cheese.

I watched a film - another in a theme of films about Christian intolerance ... this time called "Impossible Choice" - a bit of an odd film, but well worth watching.  There is a facebook page for it too.

Lockdown day #55

Had a bad night, couldn't sleep, got up at 2am and did a jigsaw online, courtesy of Jigsawplanet.com (the jigsaw was about buses - surprisingly).  I also downloaded a copy of the British Journal of Photograph - the edition who's feature article was "Masculinities: Liberation Through Photography", this time courtesy of issuu.com.

I went back to bed and got about around 7am.

I chatted with friends on facebook, and had another ring me up for a nice chat.  I then made my Sunday lunch (this week chicken, with mashed potatoes, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower).  Then I took a postprandial walk, and boy it was cold out there.  Yesterday there men on the allotments near me shirtless, today ... it was a blast of winter returning.

I watched a couple of films - The Exception on Amazon Prime, and Straight A on YouTube.

Then was time for "May You Rejoice and be Brave" - which I didn't enjoy.  I was sent, however, a chapter of Mark Pack's book "Bad News - What the headlines don't tell us" designed to whet my appetite into buying the actual book ... I may do that ....

A little sorting out of files followed, together with a decaffeinated coffee - and now feeling tired need to wend my way to bed!

Lockdown day #48

I had a lie-in this morning, and missed Sunday morning worship as a result. 

I watched the Online Ceilidh from Bo'ness in Scotland, and then telephoned a couple of Scottish Country Dancing friends.

Today is, apparently, International Gilbert & Sullivan Day, and in honour of that I watched a performance of 'Trial by Jury' on YouTube.

For my meal I had pork, with potatoes, carrots and kale - followed by tinned rice pudding.  I am trying to have as proper a meal as possible on every Sunday during the lockdown.  

I finished the evening by re-watching the first two episodes of "Fortunes of War" telling the tale of Guy & Harriet Pringle in war-time Romania.

Lockdown day #34

So quite a short night's sleep last night.  I woke up firstly around 4am with a noise, sounded like a book dropping, unsure of the cause.  The alarm then woke me at 6.30am, and I drifted back to sleep, only to awake around 10am.

I tuned into Zoom (perhaps I zoomed in?) and "attended" Sunday morning worship.  It was good to seem some other members of my meeting and listen to the ministry.

I also "attended" a bus rally.  Billed as the "Great Virtual Bus Rally" which took place on a facebook group called "Preserved and Classic Buses UK Group".  The group has over 5,000 members and the rally consisted of a number of them posting pictures taken at bus rallies in happier times.

I took some exercise in the local cemetery and looked at some of the names on the graves ....  I only saw two others - and we exercised good social distancing.

One of the things I am determined to do during this lockdown is to have a proper meal every Sunday - I may eat less healthily through the week, but not on Sundays.  Today I had pork loin, carrots, sweetcorn and mashed potatoes.  It was really lovely.

I have also read a book ... a virtual book online from MDS Publications - today's was "Eastern National & Thamesway Fleet Record Vol 2: The Badgerline Years 1990-1996" ... it was interesting!
