50 in 2013 part I

As I approach my impending half-century I thought I would like to muse on other 50th celebrations this year.  1963 was a busy year it seems.

Firstly there is the Aston Martin DB5, featured on a British stamp.

Also 50 in 2013 is Dr Who, also featured on British stamps.

The first ever episode was screened on 23 November 1963.  Here is a screen shot of our first glimpse inside the Tardis.

 

 

The first episode was overshadowed by the assassination of John F Kennedy the day before in Texas.  This anniversary was commemorated on a stamp from Ireland.

Finally there is the Marks & Spencer Walnut Whip, but no stamp this time.
